Everything you need to prepare for your appointment

Let’s take you through how to prepare, what to expect, and who you’ll see when you get here.

Making an appointment at Spira Care is simple and easy:

  • Just call 913-29-SPIRA (77472)
  • Appointments are available weekdays, plus a limited number of evenings and weekends (extended hours vary by location). Find out more at Care Center locations.
  • All you need to bring with you is your Blue KC member ID card and a photo ID (driver’s license, state-issued ID card, or passport).
  • You can quickly and conveniently communicate with your provider, view test results, review your medical history, and more by logging into your patient portal.
  • If you can’t make your appointment, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance so we can reschedule.

When you arrive...

  • Try to check in at the Spira Care Center 15 minutes ahead of time. If there’s a short wait, make yourself at home in our comfortable waiting area.
  • A Care Team member will show you to a room to meet your provider. Any routine lab work will be taken care of on-site. Digital X-rays are also available at many Care Centers.
  • After you’ve met with your provider, a Care Guide will answer any questions and make sure you understand your next steps.

Need help finding an in-network specialist?

At Spira Care, we can help you find a specialist or provider in your plan’s network—let us do the work for you. While referrals aren’t needed for visiting a provider outside of a Spira Care Center, we recommend working with your Care Guide to find a specialist for your need. They can quickly give you estimated procedure costs so you can make the choice that’s best for you and your wallet. Care Guides are here to help with any care needs in your plan’s network—and to be your advocate.

Remember to bring your Blue KC member ID card to every appointment. It has all the information we need to file a claim on your behalf.

Free aids and services for those with disabilities and whose primary language is not English

Spira Care provides qualified sign language interpreters and information in other formats (large print, audio, accessible electronic formats, etc.). We also provide interpreters and other services to people whose primary language is not English. To take advantage of these services, call Customer Service at 877-337-7472. All these services are provided free of charge.
